Blinds & Shades in Darien, IL
Darien is quiet, residential and full of sliding doors onto back patios. A cordless vertical cellular system is the treatment we fit here more than any other.
Local knowledge
Blinds, Shades & Shutters in Darien
Vertiglide™ takes the insulating honeycomb construction of a cellular shade and runs it side to side instead of up and down. It is a cordless operating system, which makes it a sound choice in homes with children and pets, and Hunter Douglas positions it for sliding glass doors, vertical openings and room dividers. Paired with a room-darkening fabric, as above, it also turns a bright back room into somewhere you can watch a film.
Darien's subdivisions — Carriage Greens, Hinsbrook, the streets off Plainfield and Cass — were largely built in a window of time when the back slider became standard. That means we see the same opening over and over again, and we have a settled view about what works on it.

Darien questions
Asked and answered
Are cordless shades genuinely safer around children?
Cordless operating systems remove the hanging cord, which is the main hazard. It is one of the first things we ask about during a consultation, and for homes with young children we will steer you toward cordless or motorised systems as a matter of course.
Can a cellular shade really darken a room?
Room-darkening cellular fabrics get close. For genuine blackout in a bedroom, the Duette® LightLock® system uses U-shaped side channels with micro-ridges designed to absorb or deflect nearly all incoming light — that is the one to ask about.
