The Windmill City has more arched and specialty-shape windows than its size would suggest — and they are the single most common reason people call us here.

Blinds, Shades & Shutters in Batavia
An arch is where mass-market window coverings give up. The shade above is an Applause® honeycomb built to a specialty arch, measured on site and fabricated to that exact curve. It is not a rectangle with the corners trimmed; it is a custom piece that follows the opening.
Batavia's limestone buildings and Fox River bluff homes carry a lot of architectural detail, and the newer subdivisions on the east and west sides borrowed the vocabulary — Palladian windows, eyebrow arches, angled tops over stairwells. We measure these individually, every time, because no two of them are the same even in the same house.

Batavia questions
Asked and answered
Can an arched window shade actually open and close?
Sometimes. A true half-round arch is usually built as a fixed, stationary piece because there is nowhere for it to stack. Angled and trapezoid tops can often be made operable. We will tell you which yours is when we measure it.
Is it worth covering an arch at all?
If the arch is throwing afternoon sun onto a floor or a piece of furniture, yes — that is where fading starts. If it is purely decorative and north-facing, we will often tell you to leave it alone and save the money.
Batavia's arches, angles and odd shapes are exactly the work a proper blinds and shades sales and installation company exists to do.
