Still the same two guys in the van
Hang & Shine started in Carol Stream in 1998 with one truck, an ultrasonic tank and a brochure we printed ourselves. Nearly thirty years later the brochure has changed. Most of the rest has not.
How it began
Cleaning first, selling second
The business did not start by selling blinds. It started by cleaning them — Hang & Shine Ultrasonics, running a mobile ultrasonic tank out to banks, office buildings and restaurants across DuPage County. That flyer is still in a drawer somewhere.
Cleaning other people’s window treatments for a living turns out to be an unusually good education. You see which products survive fifteen years and which fall apart in three. You see what a bad installation looks like once the brackets have had a decade to work loose. By the time we started selling new blinds and shades, we had a fairly strong opinion about what was worth putting in someone’s house.
That opinion has not really changed: buy something built to the window, have it fitted properly, and keep it clean. It will outlast three cheap replacements.

In this trade it is normal for one company to sell you the product, a second to measure it and a third to install it. When something is wrong, you get to referee the argument.
We do all three. The person who measures your windows is on the team that installs them, and the same phone number answers when a cord sticks four years later.
